Chief Bucket Elevators Are Safe and Strong

Poland Steel offers an enhanced head section for reduced impact points and exceptional durability. Our meticulously engineered head section minimizes breakage-causing impact points, ensuring optimal performance and longevity. Each component is manufactured to precise standards using heavy gauge materials, guaranteeing both easy installation and remarkable strength.


Chief bucket elevators are designed with convenience in mind, featuring urethane liners, easy-open hinged discharge inspection doors, and head hood slide clamps. To ensure maximum durability, our crown-faced slide-lagged or vulcanized rubber-lagged head pulleys are crafted to meet the rigorous standards of the mining industry. The laggings are rated as SOF (static conducting, oil resistant, and fire retardant), providing superior protection and performance.


  • Chief's exclusive staggered-head hood-to-housing connection ensures a seamless and impact-free transition.


  • The discharge baffle, made from ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) plastic, offers exceptional durability and resistance to sparks.


  • Urethane liners, comprised of 0.25" thick blue wire-backed urethane, are custom-cut and securely fastened with heavy-duty flathead hardware. These liners are available for inlet hoppers, discharge hoppers, and elevator head assemblies.


  • For heavy-duty applications, ceramic liners consisting of 0.25" ceramic tiles are precisely tailored to fit the prepared surface area and bonded to the steel using adhesive specific to the product.


  • To enhance safety, an explosion vent is provided on the back hood side to mitigate the risk of unexpected combustion.


  • The bucket elevator head features a no-tool inspection door, facilitating easy access to the discharge throat.


  • Ball-bearing or spherical pillow blocks are utilized to withstand the harshest abrasive and corrosive conditions across all elevator sizes. Additionally, all shafts are made of CR 1045 material at a minimum and feature UHMV shaft seals.

Heavy-Duty Commercial Elevator Boot

Chief's robust commercial boot is engineered for exceptional strength and durability. In addition, our bucket elevators feature urethane liners, convenient easy-open hinged discharge inspection doors, and reliable head hood slide clamps.

Standard for 36" Pulleys and Larger

  • The frame is constructed using welded and hot-dipped galvanized materials, and it includes structural angle support and 1/4" plates.


  • There is a generous 4" clearance below the bottom plate, allowing for easy accessibility.


  • To facilitate cleaning, rack, and pinion clean-out doors are provided, which offer convenient access to the boot.


  • For added flexibility, the hand wheel can be positioned on either side of the boot.


  • A spring-loaded cleanup safety catch ensures that the door remains securely open during maintenance.


  • To prevent corrosion, the side shovel pocket cover is equipped with a stainless hinge, and it features a weather and dust-tight seal.


  • The side shovel pocket facilitates the feeding of loose grain that may have spilled around the boot area, and the built-in grate prevents foreign objects from entering the elevator.


(Note: Under normal operation, rubber latches should be in place.)


Both the head and boot utilize pillow block bearings, which come in either spherical or ball-bearing designs. The sturdy shafts are made from a minimum of CR 1045 material. The trunking inspection door can be conveniently modified to accommodate dust collection equipment.

Assorted Trunk and Manual Boot Sections

Standard for 30" Pulleys and Smaller

  • A distinctive hat section bottom panel, positioned 2 1/4" (57.15mm) above ground level, effectively prevents grain from being exposed to shallow water.


  • The presence of multiple inspection doors in the boot section facilitates convenient maintenance.


  • These inspection doors enable access to a heavy-duty drum or a self-cleaning winged pulley.


  • Standard features include 45-degree clean-out sections located on the end panels of each boot section.

Easy Chief Elevator Trunk Installations

Various Sections That Fit Your Exact Needs

The end sections of Chief elevator trunks are skillfully engineered and manufactured to ensure a seamless and straightforward installation process.


Trunk sections are offered with bolted flanged seams, which are securely fastened together at the factory to ensure alignment and compatibility. For situations that necessitate it, explosion vents are provided on the up and down leg trunking at 20' (6096mm) intervals. These vents have an opening area that adheres to NFPA guidelines. *


*It is advisable to consult with local authorities to verify the specific explosion venting requirements for each application.


  • 5' (1524mm) or 10' (3048mm) inspection sections have heavy-duty welded frames with removable panels for easy belt and bucket maintenance.


  • Models 42-20, 48-30, and 48-50 use 10' (3048mm) inspection sections. All other models use 5' (1524mm) inspection sections.


  • A single boot inlet is standard. Lined boot inlets are optional.


  • Urethane-lined discharge hoppers are available for smaller models and standard on larger models.


  • A wide variety of painted or galvanized distributors are available with your choice of spout diameter, and outlet quantity with wire or electric controls.


  • Guy wire packages are available to meet the specific size and discharge height of the elevator.


  • A hinged inspection door lets you view the fill level of the buckets.


  • Polyethylene buckets are standard.


  • Steel, stainless steel, urethane, nylon, or vented buckets are optional.


  • Head service and distributor platforms are available for all bucket elevators. All ladder packages and platforms comply with OSHA standards. A lockable access door is added to all ladder packages.

Flexible Chief Horizontal Conveyors

High-Corrosion-Resistant Galvanized

The standard configuration of Chief's horizontal chain conveyors includes intermediate sections that are fully galvanized. These conveyors can be tailored to suit your specific needs by incorporating various features such as exterior gauging, liners, chain types, sprocket options, paddles, and speed settings. By utilizing components manufactured with precise specifications, your Chief chain conveyor will be simple to assemble and deliver durable performance over an extended period.


To ensure exceptional durability, Chief provides fully galvanized material handling systems that can withstand even the harshest corrosive environments. All components are constructed with robustness in mind and are designed to facilitate effortless maintenance.

  • Idler return systems are used for smaller conveyors; rail returns are standard on 21" (533.4mm) and wider conveyors. Optional AR-lined rails are available for high-use conveyors.


  • For easy maintenance, the bolt-on panel was removed easily to lift out the shaft, bearings, and sprocket as one unit.


  • Intermediate seams have bolted connections with staggered bottoms to provide a secure joint without the need for welding. The result is a strong connection with superior corrosion resistance.


  • Reversing conveyors are available with carryback cups for full conveyor cleanout.


  • Standard horizontal conveyors have chain take-up adjustment installed at the tail end unless requested to be installed at the driven end.


  • Fixed ends and take-ups are powder coated for conveyors that are taller than 15" (381mm) standardly.


  • The telescoping take-up system uses a simple threaded rod for easy adjustment and secure locking.


  • Chief's unique broad-throat opening between the start of the discharge and the sprocket allows for unobstructed discharge.


  • All conveyors are shipped with the required covers.

Chief’s Chain/Sprocket Combinations

The distinction lies in our materials and engineering. Chief presents a selection of three standard chain/sprocket combinations.


  • 81x & 81x HD
  • 2.61" (66.29mm) steel brushing roller chain comes with self-cleaning open barrel bushings to reduce material buildup and prevent freezing. Cast iron sprockets are standard. Cut steel and split sprockets are available.​
  • WH124
  • 4.0" (101.6mm) welded steel chain is induction hardened for long life and is assembled with press fit pins for installation and maintenance. Hardened flame-cut split sprockets are standard.​
  • WH132
  • 6.0" (152.40mm) welded steel chain has a high working load for high capacity and long lengths in heavy-duty en masse chain conveyors. Hardened flame-cut split sprockets are standard.​


Conveyor options encompass the use of AR lining to enhance the lifespan of equipment operating in high-wear and abrasive environments. Sidelining alternatives consist of AR250 in 10ga and 7ga with a thickness of 1/4". For bottom lining, choices include 7ga with thicknesses of 1/4" and 3/8". Additional options in AR400 can be accommodated upon request.


Drive packages are provided in Class I, II, or III, with standard left-hand side mounting. Right-hand drives can be specified as an optional feature during the ordering process.


Upon request, there is an option for a direct drive.


TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled) motors are the standard offering, while explosion-proof motors are available for use in enclosed areas or other hazardous locations. For added safety, Chief recommends the installation of a shock relay that can shut down the conveyor and connected equipment in case an obstruction becomes lodged. Standard paddles are crafted from UHMW plastic. Nylon paddles are available depending on the specific application requirements.

Flexible and Reliable: Chief Incline Conveyors

Chief Horizontal Incline Conveyors provide the solution for challenging pit installation issues. These conveyors can be conveniently installed in shallow pits or utilized in above-grade setups with raised driveways. Similar to the horizontal chain conveyors, these models offer exceptional flexibility and reliability.


All Chief incline conveyors are equipped with generously sized UHMW paddles and are available with a standard fixed center shroud or an optional adjustable center shroud. The dump hoppers are typically 4' (1219.2mm) wide and come in lengths of 2' (609.6mm), 4' (1219.22mm), 6' (1828.8mm), 8' (2438.4mm), and 10' (3048mm).


  • Material is conveyed in a center pan divided flow trough using large profile UHMW paddles. Convenient take-ups are positioned at the discharge end for easy maintenance.


  • There are also options available for virgin UHMW paddles, providing additional choices for customization.


  • The tail section of the conveyors is designed with a 45-degree sloped back panel, effectively preventing excessive material buildup and facilitating easy cleaning.


  • For enhanced control over material flow, an innovative and adjustable telescoping center shroud is available as an optional feature. This allows users to make adjustments based on specific grain conditions.


  • Conveyors can be ordered with either standard length or a shortened tail end, which helps save space in installations.


  • By default, standard incline conveyors have chain take-up adjustment installed at the driven end. However, upon request, it can be installed at the tail end instead.
